Tracking affiliate sales
Linktree's Insights page shows views, clicks, click rate and traffic sources. Its help center describes a Monetized links section with clicks, conversions and earnings for each link, but only for links that earn through Linktree itself: Linktree Shops, Sponsored Links, paid courses and digital products. Shops and Sponsored Links are available to creators in the United States.
If you paste in your own Amazon Associates, Impact or CJ link, Linktree counts the click. The sale happens on the merchant's site and the network records it. To learn what earned money, you open the network dashboard and try to line it up with Linktree's click counts by date.
Vyrl closes that gap with server postbacks. You connect a network in Vyrl, paste a postback URL into the network's settings, and every sale comes back to Vyrl matched to the click that started it. Vyrl adds the network's sub ID parameter to each click for you (subId1 for Impact, sid for CJ, sub1 for Everflow, clickref for Awin, ascsubtag for Amazon). Amazon has no postbacks, so you upload the Earnings report CSV from Associates Central and Vyrl matches rows by Sub Tag. The setup guides walk through each network: Impact, CJ, Awin, Everflow and Amazon.
Sales by video
This is the main difference for video creators. Linktree splits traffic by source, so you can see that a visitor came from TikTok or YouTube. It can't tell you which of your 40 TikToks sent them.
In Vyrl, each video gets a word, such as vyrl.at/yourname/storm. You say it on camera or put it in that video's description. Every click and sale from that visit is credited to that video. Share links add the place, so vyrl.at/yourname/storm/tt means "the storm video, from TikTok". The dashboard then shows commission and earnings per click (EPC) by video, by link and by place. Read which video made the sale for a worked example.
Here is why that matters. Say your page earned $600 last month from 3,000 clicks, an EPC of $0.20. If one video drove 400 of those clicks and $280 of the commission, its EPC is $0.70, more than three times your average. That's the video to make a follow-up for, and you would never see it in click counts alone.
Page speed and privacy
The measurements above this text are taken from real, public Linktree pages, including page weight and the trackers they load. They are rechecked automatically, so we don't repeat numbers here that could go stale.
Vyrl pages are plain HTML with no JavaScript, served from Cloudflare's edge cache, and typically under 50 KB. Creator pages set no cookies and load no third-party trackers. Unique visitors are counted with a daily-changing salted hash, and IP addresses are never stored.
Linktree offers integrations such as Google Analytics, Facebook Conversion API and email tools. Those are useful if you run ads, but each one is another script on your page and another company seeing your visitors. You can test your own Linktree page with the free Linktree speed check.
Pricing
Linktree has four plans. In the US, Starter is $8 a month or $6 billed yearly. Pro and Premium cost more and add things like removing Linktree branding, longer analytics history, data export and lower selling fees. Premium is the only plan with a 0% fee on digital products in Linktree's pricing table. Stripe's processing fee, typically 2.9% + $0.30 per sale, applies on every plan.
Vyrl has two. Free covers one page, unlimited links and click analytics by link and source. Creator is $4 a month or $3.20 billed yearly in the US, and cheaper in many countries, as low as $2 a month. It adds revenue per video, affiliate postbacks, the AI agent, giveaways, a custom domain, CSV export and the daily revenue email. Vyrl takes no cut of commission. See pricing for details.
When Linktree is the better choice
Be honest with yourself about how you earn.
- You sell your own products. Linktree has a built-in checkout for digital products, courses (powered by Kajabi) and bookings. Vyrl has no checkout.
- You want the biggest ecosystem. Linktree has link apps for Shopify, Spotify, Calendly, Mailchimp and many more, plus Instagram auto-replies and social post scheduling.
- You want Linktree's own affiliate marketplace. US creators can add products from Linktree Shops and earn without joining networks themselves.
- Your audience recognizes the link. linktr.ee is widely known, which some creators value.
- You don't earn from affiliate links much at all. If clicks are all you need to see, Linktree's free plan does the job.
Vyrl is the better fit when affiliate commission is a real part of your income and you post enough videos that knowing which one sells changes what you make next.
How to switch from Linktree to Vyrl
- Create a free Vyrl page and paste your Linktree username into the import. Vyrl copies your links. The import guide covers the details.
- Replace any affiliate links with the network's clean link, and leave out the sub ID parameter. Vyrl adds its own click ID there.
- Connect your networks and paste each postback URL into the network's settings. Then tap your own Vyrl link and send a test conversion. It should show in revenue within a minute.
- Add a share link for each place you post, like /tt for TikTok and /yt for YouTube, and put them in your bios.
- Give your next videos a word each and mention it on camera or in the description. See video links and share links.
- Keep your Linktree live for a few weeks so old links in descriptions still work, then cut it down to a single link to your Vyrl page.
From then on, share only Vyrl links: your page, a video address, a share link or a link's short link. A raw network link can't be matched to a click or a video.
Questions
Does Linktree track affiliate sales?
Only for its own earning features, such as Linktree Shops, Sponsored Links and digital products sold through its checkout. For affiliate links you paste in from Amazon, Impact or other networks, Linktree reports clicks, and the sale data stays in the network's dashboard.
Can I use my own domain with Linktree?
No. Linktree's help center says it doesn't offer a way to replace the linktr.ee address with a custom domain. Vyrl includes a custom domain on its Creator plan.
Is Vyrl cheaper than Linktree?
Both have free plans. Vyrl's paid plan is $4 a month or $3.20 a month billed yearly in the US. Linktree's cheapest paid plan, Starter, is $8 a month or $6 a month billed yearly in the US.
Can I move my Linktree links to Vyrl without retyping them?
Yes. Paste your Linktree username into Vyrl's import and it copies your links across. You then swap in clean affiliate links and connect your networks.
