Import From Linktree: Move Your Links Without Breaking Them
How to move from Linktree to Vyrl: import by username, what gets copied, how to update your bio links, and how to keep old Linktree links in videos working.
Updated
To move from Linktree to Vyrl, paste your Linktree username into the import box under Links. Vyrl copies your links in order, your section headers and social icons, and your bio and profile picture if your new page doesn't have them yet. Then update the link in each of your bios, and keep your Linktree page up with a link to your new page so old links in video descriptions still reach you.
The whole move takes a few minutes. Most of the care goes into the step people skip: the old links already sitting in hundreds of video descriptions.
Before you start: check your speed
If you're wondering whether the switch is worth it, the free Linktree speed check is a useful first step. Enter your Linktree username and it measures your current page: how long Linktree took to respond, how much HTML it sends, and how much script a phone has to download before the page works. It then shows the size of the same links rebuilt as a plain Vyrl page.
It reports measured sizes, not a promise of a percentage. Vyrl pages are plain HTML with no JavaScript, served from Cloudflare's edge cache, and are typically under 50 KB. Whether that difference matters to you depends on your audience. Viewers who tap through from TikTok or Instagram often open your page in the app's built-in browser on mobile data, where every extra download is waiting time.
Step 1: Import your links
- Create your Vyrl page and choose your address,
vyrl.at/yourname. - Open Links and find Import from Linktree.
- Type your Linktree username. You can paste
@yourname,linktr.ee/yournameor the full link; Vyrl works out the username. - Select import. Vyrl tells you how many links it added.
- Check your links, then publish.
What gets copied
| Copied | Details |
|---|---|
| Links | Titles and destinations, in the same order |
| Section headers | Added as headers on your page |
| Social icons | Your social profile links |
| Bio | Only if your Vyrl page has no bio yet |
| Profile picture | Only if your Vyrl page has none yet (images up to 1 MB) |
Vyrl also spots affiliate links from Amazon, Impact, CJ and Awin by their link domains and marks them with the right network, ready for sales tracking. Check this on each link after import, and set it by hand for any it missed.
What doesn't come across
The import reads your public Linktree page, so it only sees what visitors see. Your Linktree click history, theme and settings stay on Linktree. Any Linktree content that isn't a plain link, header or social icon needs to be set up again on your Vyrl page. Save a copy of your Linktree analytics first if you want to keep a record.
Running it again
Links that are already on your page are skipped, matched by destination. If you add something to Linktree during the move, run the import again and only the new links are added.
Step 2: Set up share links before you update bios
This is the step that makes the move worth more than a new design. Before you change any bio, create a share link for each place your page will live, under Links:
vyrl.at/yourname/ttfor TikTokvyrl.at/yourname/igfor Instagramvyrl.at/yourname/ytfor your YouTube channel links
Then each click and sale is broken down by place from day one. See video links and share links for how they work.
Step 3: Update your bio links
Replace your Linktree link with the matching share link everywhere it appears. A checklist:
- TikTok profile website field
- Instagram bio link
- YouTube channel links
- X, Threads, Pinterest, Twitch and any other profiles
- Email signature and newsletter footer
- Media kit and brand pitch templates
Then open each profile on your phone and tap the link to make sure it lands on your Vyrl page.
Step 4: Keep old Linktree links working
Your Linktree address is probably written in old video descriptions, pinned comments and posts you'll never edit. Those keep getting views, so don't delete your Linktree account. Instead:
- On any Linktree plan: keep your Linktree page live, and make the top link point to your Vyrl page, titled something like "All my links have moved here." Visitors are one tap away. Use a share link made for this, such as
vyrl.at/yourname/lt, so you can see how much traffic still comes through old Linktree links. - On Linktree's paid plans: Linktree's help center describes a Redirect option, under its Prioritize link settings, that temporarily sends all visitors straight to one link. It runs for a period you set, so it helps during the switch but isn't a permanent forward.
- For your biggest videos: update the description and pinned comment on the handful of videos that still get the most views. A video address, such as
vyrl.at/yourname/storm, there is better than the plain page, because it credits sales to that video.
Visitors who arrive through your old Linktree and tap across to Vyrl still count on your Vyrl page, under that share link. When its numbers drop close to zero, the old links have mostly stopped mattering.
Step 5: Turn on sales tracking
With your links in place, the last step is the one Linktree doesn't do: seeing which video and which link earned money. Connect your affiliate networks under Networks and set up postbacks, starting with whichever you use most: Impact, CJ, Awin, Everflow or Amazon Associates.
From then on, share only your Vyrl links, never the network's raw link, so every sale can be matched to a click.
What it costs
Importing from Linktree is free. Vyrl's free plan includes one page, unlimited links, click analytics by link and source, and Linktree import, with a small Vyrl badge. Revenue per video, affiliate postbacks and a custom domain are on the Creator plan; see pricing. For a side-by-side look at the two products, see Vyrl vs Linktree.
Questions
Do I need my Linktree password to import?
No. The import reads your public Linktree page, the same page anyone can see at linktr.ee/yourname. You only type the username.
Will my old linktr.ee links stop working when I switch?
Not unless you delete your Linktree account. Keep it, and point its top link to your new page, so viewers who open an old link can still find you.
Can I run the import more than once?
Yes. Links already on your page are skipped, so running it again only adds links you have added to Linktree since.
Is the Linktree import free?
Yes. Linktree import is included in Vyrl's free plan, along with one page, unlimited links and click analytics by link and source.
